TARGET USERS OF STANDARDS

Standards are prepared so that they are available to the users. In other words standards are prepared for the public i.e. anybody who may have direct interest in them.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR PREPARATION OF STANDARDS

The backbone of SAZ’s standardization work is its Technical Committee members who give their time and effort to prepare acceptable national standards. Technical Committees (TCs) consist of representatives from manufacturers, trade associations, government departments, educational research, professional and testing institutions. For the private consumer, the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe provides representatives on many Technical Committees. The SAZ has over 300 TCs and subcommittees consisting of over 4,000 national experts responsible for the various fields and specific scopes of standards (refer to the SAZ’s TC list). In any one year, approximately 80 TCs are actively involved in standards development work. Each TC is managed by a Technical Secretary who is a member of the SAZ staff.
